Nucleic acid extraction (NAE) is a technique that allows rapid and efficient extraction and purification of nucleic acid. NAE plays an important role in molecular biology since the quality of nucleic acid affects directly on performance of downstream reaction. There are numerous nucleic acid extraction methods and one of them is spin column which is easy, fast, and reproducible; hence, it is widely and routinely used in various areas of research and development of drug, biomedicine, science, etc.
Spin column extraction method is divided into 3 major steps: Loading, Washing and Elution. Spin column method is commonly proceeded with centrifuge which shows lots of disadvantages, for example, tedious waiting period of centrifugation, manually discard the waste liquid, etc. To improve the efficiency and simplify procedure, the “Vacuum-Driven Method” is proposed for quickly and continuously removing the waste liquid with the aid of vacuum.
Each kind of spin column has recommended operation vacuum level individually, so the compatible pump should be adjustable, easy observation and meet the desired vacuum. Besides, a vacuum bottle is available for carrying large-volume waste liquid. In the meantime, the flow rate of pump should be directly proportional to capacity of vacuum bottle.
